TestGen is made by Dexaloop ("we", "our", "us"), run by Muhammad Jaisal Padayattu Poyil in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. This policy explains what TestGen collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Your papers, your question bank, your school's name and logo, and your settings are stored on your device. They are not uploaded to us. A backup you export is a file you control.
TestGen works without an account ("Continue Offline (Guest Mode)"). AI features and purchases need one. Signing in with Apple or Google is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). We receive your email address, your name and a user ID, and use them to identify your account and to keep your AI token balance and purchases.
Before your first AI request the app tells you what is sent and asks you to agree; nothing is sent until you do. When you ask TestGen AI to write questions, the app sends the curriculum name, class, subject, chapter, any topic text you type, the difficulty, and the kinds and number of questions. When you ask it to build a curriculum class, it sends the board, the class and the subjects you name.
This goes to our server (run on Cloudflare) with your account's sign-in token, so the request can be paid for from your token balance. Our server sends the request to DeepSeek, our AI provider, to write the questions. Your name, email and account ID are not sent to DeepSeek. Our server keeps a copy of each AI reply for up to 10 minutes, so that a request retried after a lost connection is not charged twice.
If you use your own API key for Google Gemini or OpenAI (Settings), the request goes from your device directly to that company under your key and their terms; it does not pass through our server.
We never send your question bank or saved papers to an AI provider. Please do not type students' personal information into a request.
Payments are made through Apple or Google; we never see your card or bank details. Purchases are managed by RevenueCat, which receives a purchase record tied to your account ID. Our server records your AI token balance, which sample papers your account has bought, and whether Premium's included tokens have been given.
The free version offers optional reward videos, shown by Google AdMob, which give free PDF exports. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking when the app asks), your approximate location from your IP address, your interactions with ads, and crash and performance data. If you allow tracking, this may be linked with data from other companies' apps and websites to show you relevant ads. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. See Google's Privacy Policy.
If you choose to send a bug report from the app, it opens your email app with a message to us containing your account ID, device model, operating system and app version, and the error details. Nothing is sent unless you send that email.
If you report a mistake in the curriculum library, we receive the class, the subject and the message you write, without your account. We keep these reports for 180 days.
On our server we hold only what sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 describe. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. This immediately deletes your token balance, your purchase records on our server and your Firebase account; it cannot be undone. Papers and questions on your device are removed by deleting the app. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own purchase records under their policies.
Requests to our server are authenticated with a signed Firebase identity token and carried over HTTPS, and AI provider credentials are held only on the server, never in the app. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
TestGen is made for teachers and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data of anyone under 18.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other laws that apply to you, you may ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw a consent you gave, and nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Email us at the address below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
