Dossier terms of use

1. This agreement

These terms are between you and Muhammad Jaisal P P, trading as Dexaloop. By installing or using Dossier you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

Where the app store you installed from imposes its own terms — Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, or Google Play's terms — those also apply, and where they conflict with these terms on a point they cover, they take precedence.

2. Your licence to use Dossier

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Dossier on devices you own or control, for as long as you comply with these terms. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, or remove its notices, except where the law expressly permits it regardless of contract.

The app itself — its code, design, themes, icon and written content — remains ours.

3. Your content is yours

Everything you type into Dossier, and every document you produce with it, belongs entirely to you. We claim no ownership of it and no licence over it. We could not use it if we wanted to: it never leaves your device and we never receive a copy. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you write, and for having the right to include anything you add, such as a photograph.

4. What is free, permanently

These are commitments, not current settings:

• Exporting your resume as a PDF is free, unlimited and never watermarked
• Every region and document format is free
• The ATS-safe themes are free
• The resume score, the parser check, and the suggestions are free
• Backup and restore is free

Your own document will never be held behind a payment. Premium sells design and tooling; it does not sell you access to what you wrote.

5. Premium

Premium is a single payment, not a subscription. Nothing renews, nothing expires, and there is no trial that turns into a charge. It unlocks additional themes, accent colours and paper tints, custom font files, cover letters, unlimited saved resumes, and removes advertising.

Payment is processed by Apple or Google, never by us. Refunds are handled under their policies, not ours — we cannot issue a refund for a purchase we did not take. Restoring a purchase on a new device is done through the Restore option in the app, which asks the store rather than us.

The free tier is limited to three saved resumes. That limit applies to how many you keep, never to exporting the ones you have.

6. Reward videos

Dossier shows optional reward videos and nothing else — no banners, no full-screen ads, and no ad you did not choose to watch. Watching one may temporarily unlock a Premium theme for an export. Ads are supplied by Google and their availability is not something we control; if none is available, nothing in the app stops working.

7. Guidance, scores and formats

Dossier gives advice about resume conventions — which sections a document type expects, what a region's employers conventionally look for, how long a document should run, and a score based on our own transparent rules. This is guidance, not a guarantee.

Hiring conventions vary between employers, industries and countries, and they change. The score is our own rule set and is deliberately not presented as an "ATS score" — we do not simulate any particular applicant tracking system, and no one can. Following the app's advice does not guarantee an interview, a job, a university place, or that any particular software will read your document as intended.

You remain responsible for checking that what you send is accurate, complete and appropriate for the specific application.

8. Backups and data loss

Your documents live on your device. Deleting the app deletes them, and we hold no copy that could be restored. Use the backup feature and keep the file somewhere safe.

Backups written by this version are not encrypted. The file is an ordinary archive that anyone holding it can open, so keep it somewhere only you can reach. Password protection is planned for a later update.

9. Acceptable use

Do not use Dossier to create documents that are fraudulent, that misrepresent qualifications or identity, or that infringe someone else's rights. Do not use it to break the law of the country you are applying in. We cannot see what you write, so this is a matter of your own responsibility rather than something we police.

10. Availability and changes

Dossier works offline, so ordinary use does not depend on us keeping anything running. We may update the app, change or remove features, and adjust these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page and in the store listing's update notes. We may stop distributing the app, in which case copies already installed continue to work.

11. Disclaimer

Dossier is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a document it produces will be parsed correctly by any third-party system.

Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost opportunities including a job or course place not obtained, or for loss of data where a backup was available and not used. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Apple and Google are not responsible for the app, and have no obligation to provide support for it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Kerala, India have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in another country, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law where you live.
